A Night Out 70's Style for Local Entrepreneurs
It don't matter if you win or lose – it's what you do with your dancing shoes..
Ring of Cork Hits the Dance Floor. November 6th 2013
This November The Ring of Cork organised a Familiarisation Trip – inviting members to board a bus back to the 70's.
To celebrate SECAD's support of both Carrigtwohill's Movie Junction and Rollerjam in Ballincollig a bevy of Ring of Cork ladies pulled on their bootskates and hit the dance floor. Some of them literally. But first, in order to to get in a dancing mood the Ring of Corkers boarded a bus at Movie Junction to watch the 70's classic Grease in style at the drive in.
After witnessing Travolta's best moves the members did their best to recreate the magic at Rollerjam's disco rink – with varying levels of success. Movie Junction's Ellie Redmond and Mihaela Duia from Fota Island Resort were very graceful on the dance floor, as were the staff from the Carrigaline Court Hotel. However it was Caroline Curtin and Leila Aldous from Ballymaloe House and Grainstore who won the overall disco-dancing event. There were several impressive trips and spills but everyone went home with a smile on their face.
Every year The Ring of Cork organise a series of Familiarisation Trips taking in venues all over South and East Cork. It's a welcome opportunity for those in the tourism trade to network and a great way for members to experience first hand what their colleagues in South and East Cork are up to.
This December there will be a Christmas Familiarisation Trip. Watch this space! If you're interested in becoming a Ring of Cork member please contact Oonagh at 021 4613434. www.ringofcork.ie
